Rich rewards result when a genuine dialogue is established between student and teacher – when imagination, challenge, humor and surprise occur on both sides of the desk. Our teachers come with a broad range of interests, talents and educational backgrounds; but they share a love for young people and a deep respect for human diversity and dignity.
Oakwood teachers not only believe in intellectual integrity, they exemplify it; they not only espouse social morality, they encourage students to take action, to make a difference. This faculty invigorated and inspired by Oakwood young people shares with them the imagination, challenge, humor, and surprise which accompany joyful learning.
We believe that a school environment should be supportive and stimulating, should hold intellectual attainment in high regard, and should encourage children to exercise increasing independence, to take meaningful risks, and to reflect on their experience.
