ADMISSION PROCESS FOR GRADES 7-12
2007 - 2008

Open Houses for Prospective Parents:
These open houses are designed to further acquaint prospective parents with Oakwood School. Oakwood administrators, faculty members, current parents and students will describe the school's program and answer questions. If you would like to reserve a space for one of these open houses-- October 23, 2007, November 10, 2007 or January 12, 2008-please contact Margie Llinas by email (mllinas@oakwoodschool.org) or phone (818-752-5277). Since space is limited, we would appreciate knowing if your plans change and you cannot attend.

Application:
Applications for the 2008-09 school year will be accepted beginning September 1, 2007. To submit an application online...

The completed application and all other supporting information is due January 18, 2008. In addition to the application, ISEE scores, and an interview, the following are needed to complete the applicant's file:
  • Confidential Teacher Recommendations from the student's current English and math teachers. If a student has one teacher for math and English, the second recommendation may be submitted by an academic teacher who has taught the student during the past two years. We need to receive the recommendations by February 1, 2008.
  • Confidential Administrator Recommendations Recommendation from a school administrator who is familiar with the student. We need to receive the recommendation by February 1, 2008.
  • School Record which includes the student's current first semester grades, grades from the preceding two academic years, and all standardized test scores. Please send the Parent Authorization for Release of School Records, which is included with the application, to your child's current school. We need to receive the record by February 1, 2008.
Interviews and Campus Visits:
Submit your application early to secure an interview date. When your application is received, you will be notified of your campus visit and interview; earlier applicants have greater flexibility in scheduling interview appointments. This family visit will include a campus tour as well as interviews with student and faculty members of the Admission Committee. All applicants for seventh grade will be invited to participate in classes with middle school teachers on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Please save the date.

Admission Testing:
Oakwood requires that all applicants take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). Included in your admission packet are the ISEE Online Guide and an ISEE Information Sheet. You may register online, or by mail. Please register for a testing date as soon as possible. Request that student score reports be sent to Oakwood School; the school code number is 052146.
