Navigating Oakwood's Website 101

Oakwood's website has grown a great deal since it debuted in the fall of 2000. It now offers many useful resources for parents, students and teachers alike.

Library

Did you know that Oakwood's library page has (in addition to links to its own catalogue) links to Los Angeles and Beverly Hills public libraries, the MELVYL UC Databases and UCLA's College Library for AP High School Students?

You can also access database resources such as the Congressional Quarterly Weekly, Lexis-Nexis,Oxford English Dictionary and Grove Art Online to name only a few? By the way, these databases and reference tools are restricted to on-campus computers. If you're attempting to access them outside of the school, please contact Laurie or Kim.

The link to the library looks like this.

Finding People

Looking for a list of teachers' voice mail and phone numbers? Look for the phone icon on the home and other pages to access this info. Also, FYI, all Oakwood email addresses follow the same convention: first initial followed by last name and Oakwoodschool.org (e.g. Jane Gorilla would be jgorilla@oakwoodschool.org).

Donate On-Line

Do you shop on-line? Then try making your Annual Fund donation on-line. The "Give to the Annual Fund" icon (right) is on the home page, "Supporting Oakwood" as well as others. Clicking it will allow you to charge your generous donation to your credit card. Hey, why not try it out now!

Admission

Even more about our admission process is available on-line! Go to the Admission page and find information about the application process. There you'll also find links to all the information and forms anyone needs to apply. Online applications are now being accepted.

Keeping in Touch...Keeping Informed...Keeping Your Brain Sharp

Alumni can see photos of their fellow alums and keep track of upcoming events on the Alumni page. And don't miss Jim Astman's weekly riddle on the Headmaster page.

Do you need directions? Under "Our Story" on the left side navigation bar look for "Campuses" where you'll find a map and direction to both the Magnolia and Moorpark campuses.

You already know where we are but need direction to an athletic event? They're listed under "News & Events" on the Athletics page, or even better yet, look for this image on all pages...

Photos

And last but certainly not least, the elementary, middle and secondary school pages (you'll find them under "Program") often feature photos and an occasional video clips from recent events so be sure to check those pages as well. Or, if you don't know exactly what event you'd like to see photos from, click on "Photo Album" on the main menu to the left to see what's been recently posted or check out archives from the past two years.

Be sure to make Oakwood one of your "favorite places" on your browser and come visit often. The website is updated at least once a week during the school year. It's a great resource for you and there is much more to come!
