WHAT IS THE BETTER TOGETHER FUNDRAISING DRIVE?

During our Better Together 100 Days of Giving Drive, volunteers and staff raise funds for Oakwood School's Annual Fund and Special Event, which benefits the Scholarship Endowment Fund. We ask all members of our community—parents, Trustees, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, staff and friends—to make Oakwood a philanthropic priority during our 100 Days of Giving Drive, which ends on January 31. Families have the choice of giving to one or both funds, or may leave it to the school to determine to which funds gifts are allocated.

WHY SHOULD I GIVE TO THE ANNUAL FUND?

The Annual Fund is our highest fundraising priority because it covers the gap between tuition and the actual cost of providing an Oakwood education. Annual Fund gifts are used during the year in which they are received and make an immediate impact on our students. Our Annual Fund goal for the 2019–2020 school year is $2.2 million.

WHY SHOULD I GIVE TO THE ENDOWMENT?

Endowment gifts help ensure the long-term health of Oakwood School. While the Endowment is protected in perpetuity, a small percentage is used each year for programs such as our financial assistance program, which benefits 17% of our students. Our annual Special Event raises money for the Endowment, and net proceeds from the 2020 event will benefit the Scholarship Endowment Fund.

WHAT ARE OAKWOOD'S LEADERSHIP GIVING LEVELS?

$10,000 Head of School Circle—includes an invitation to the Head of School Circle Evening.
$15,000 Champions' Circle—includes the above + 2 tickets to the Special Event with a VIP pre-party with the Head of School.
$25,000 Leaders' Circle—includes the above + a special Leaders' Circle Reception with the Head of School.

WHAT IS THE SPECIAL EVENT?

The Special Event is Oakwood's K-12 annual fundraising gala where we really put the fun in fundraising! Net proceeds from Special Event benefit the Scholarship Endowment Fund. You will not want to miss this year's concert-style event on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Hollywood Palladium. Everyone 21 and over is invited, and we hope to see you there! Mark your calendars now and stay tuned for more details.

WHAT IS THE OAKWOOD FAMILY ALBUM?

New this year, the Oakwood Family Album will be an online interactive experience to celebrate all donors who make a gift during the Better Together 100 Days of Giving Drive by January 31. All donors who give to the Annual Fund and/or endowment will be acknowledged equally—ads will be the same size and displayed alphabetically. We are not only considering the environmental benefits of a digital version, but also believe this is the best way to acknowledge each and every family or individual who has chosen to make Oakwood School a philanthropic priority. We are excited to share the new Oakwood Family Album with you!

WHAT IS THE CAPITAL FUND?

Capital Campaigns raise funds to build new structures or make improvements to existing ones. While we are not currently in an active Capital Campaign, each family will be invited to participate in one during their time at Oakwood.

WHAT IS LEGACY GIVING?

A great way to have a bigger impact on Oakwood than you might have thought possible is through legacy giving. A gift by will, trust or beneficiary designation carries your philanthropic partnership with Oakwood into the future. Legacy giving is a way of giving back and paying it forward so that future generations of students can also benefit from the experience that makes Oakwood so unique. To learn more about legacy giving, or to share your interest in making a gift of this kind, please contact Nancy Leptuch Virrey.
