The Special Event is Oakwood's annual celebration and community call to action—the time we rally together and raise funds for the Scholarship Endowment, which supports the growth of Oakwood’s financial aid offerings to qualified students.Your support shows our students the value of community and helps continue to build a diverse student body that enriches every facet of life here at Oakwood.
On Saturday, May 6, Oakwood families and friends will come together for an entertaining program created by members of the Oakwood community—parents, students, and alumni—each with a unique story to tell about being ALL IN. We are thrilled to announce our hosts for the evening: author and beloved TV journalist Rich Eisen and the star of one of the most critically acclaimed shows on television, Bob Odenkirk.
This year's honored alumni speaker is a member of the inaugural class of the Oakwood Athletics Hall of Fame—a standout basketball player from high school to the NBA, and current Oakwood School board member, Mitchell Butler '89.
A DJ set by Balthazar Getty will round out the night, getting everybody up out of their seats and dancing as we mark another year of joyful, heartfelt support for our school.
This year's menu is brought to you by Wolfgang Puck—famed chef, winner of multiple James Beard Awards, and culinary innovator who continues to define the creative edge of American dining. From cocktails to appetizers, a two course main, and delicious desserts, this experience will be one to remember.
The Special Event takes place at an unforgettable venue: The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland—a Los Angeles landmark and home to the Oscars® Governors Ball—offering panoramic views over Los Angeles in the historic heart of our city.
We hope to see you there along with all the Oakwood families who come together each year in celebration of our vibrant community.
Last year’s Special Event was an unprecedented success.
The evening started off with an energetic and heartfelt program focused on financial aid. Our host kept guests laughing and a special alumni guest moved the audience as he shared his personal story of being a financial aid recipient. Finally, our auctioneer kicked off a lively bidding session as guests generously participated in the evening's live auction and paddle raise—giving an amazing $329,000 to the Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Our deepest gratitude to all who attended, and special thanks to the event chairs, committees, and many volunteers who helped make the night happen.
