Christie Guevara

Dear Alumni,

新年快乐—it's officially the Year of the Rat. In this lunar new year, the Rat represents the beginning of a new day. Today is a new day to celebrate each other, this community, and to think about what we can do to better the lives we live and inspire others to do the same.

You can read about our new initiative—Learned. I encourage you to subscribe to the podcast and help spread the word. It's a wonderful example of the power of education and what happens when we collaborate and put our ideas out into the world. Oakwood is a place where this kind of innovation happens and it is a community that knows how to find inspiration and celebrate our wins, big and small.

I'm truly grateful for your guidance and partipation in all of our "wins." We invite you to come back for a campus tour, attend an alumni happy hour, join the Alumni Council, and get involved with our alumni program. Click here to see the full calendar of upcoming alumni and Oakwood events. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Thank you for inspiring me each and every day. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Cheers,

Christie Guevara
Director of Alumni Relations

Welcome to Learned, a Podcast from Oakwood

On Learned, we'll be looking beyond test scores and college acceptance rates to understand how education can shape the future of our society — and what kind of teaching we need to bring us there.

Oakwood alum Tristan Friedberg Rodman '11, Director of Co-Curricular Programs Ivan Johnson, and Director of Alumni Relations Christie Guevara had candid conversations with educators, parents, and alumni about the educational issues that matter most to them. The episodes in Season 1 spans a wide range of topics — from creativity to entrepreneurship, social justice to mental health, technological change to equity and inclusion at private schools.

Oakwood holds a special place in the hearts of all who have walked its campuses and studied in its buildings. Whether your memories return to your favorite class, a mentoring teacher, your volunteer experiences, or the lifelong friendships that began here, the common threads among Oakwood Alumni and their families are the life-changing experiences had by students. We are so grateful for your continued support and thank you in advance for your generosity!

Join us, and make a gift to Oakwood today!

ALUMNI COUNCIL & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Oakwood Alumni Council is the cornerstone of our volunteer leadership and provides opportunities to get involved with our Annual Giving and/or Events Committees. This volunteer committee meets on campus approximately every other month to plan and implement Alumni related initiatives, activities, and events.

We are always looking for alumni who are available to volunteer on an ad hoc basis for fun events. Contact Christie Guevara for more information.
