News from the Alumni Office

Dear Alumni Families,

Thank you to our alumni community for contributing to the total of over 450 ideas submitted to Oakwood's New Mascot Project!  Stay tuned to the official mascot website for voting information and other details of the mascot journey.  Thank you again for your dedication and ongoing support.

Our incredible group of alumni on the BIPOC Alumni Task Force, led by Alumni Council Vice-Chair Treani Swain '03, continues to dedicate its work to self-education, responsibility, and to the greater movement by providing resources to enhance inclusivity for students, educational support, student mentorship, and additional tools to enact change.

I'm also excited to share that almost 300 Oakwood Alumni have joined The Lot and are able to connect directly with classmates, faculty and staff, become or find a mentor, browse the job board, stay on top of the latest Oakwood news and so much more. We hope you'll join The Lot t
oday to share your own news and engage with fellow alumni.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or needs. Thank you for your support and for staying connected to Oakwood!

Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in The Lot!

Warmly,

Christie Guevara
Director of Alumni Relations

Welcome to Learned!

If you haven't had a chance to listen to Learned the podcast, you can catch up on all episodes HERE! On Learned, we're looking beyond test scores and college acceptance rates to understand how education can shape the future of our society — and what kind of teaching we need to bring us there.

Oakwood alum Tristan Friedberg Rodman '11, Director of Co-Curricular Programs Ivan Johnson, and Director of Alumni Relations Christie Guevara had candid conversations with educators, parents, and alumni about the educational issues that matter most to them. The episodes in Season 1 spans a wide range of topics — from creativity to entrepreneurship, social justice to mental health, technological change to equity and inclusion at private schools.

ALUMNI GIVING

Oakwood holds a special place in the hearts of all who have walked its campuses and studied in its buildings. Whether your memories return to your favorite class, a mentoring teacher, your volunteer experiences, or the lifelong friendships that began here, the common threads among Oakwood Alumni and their families are the life-changing experiences had by students. We are so grateful for your continued support and thank you in advance for your generosity! Join us, and make a gift to Oakwood today!

ALUMNI COUNCIL & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Oakwood Alumni Council is the cornerstone of our volunteer leadership and provides opportunities to get involved with our Annual Giving and/or Events Committees. This volunteer committee meets on campus approximately every other month to plan and implement Alumni related initiatives, activities, and events.

We are always looking for alumni who are available to volunteer on an ad hoc basis for fun events. Contact Christie Guevara for more information.
